What is the pre-match ritual?
Meet and greet club representatives, captains, and scorers; ground/pitch assessment. Agree with colleague tolerances, wide balls. Take control of match balls and spares before toss. Receive and check completed, signed team card
What happens in the pre-match meeting with the captains?
Match format, competition rules, and regs. Identify all young players. Hours of play, master clock, and backup. Intervals and drinks break. Use of subs and over rates (if applicable). Use of covers and who will move sightscreens. Re-marking creases and rolling between innings. Confirm who scorers are and location, who will display runs, wickets and overs?
What happens in the scorers briefing?
Confirm the intended location of the scorers. If practical, leave spare balls with scorers. Confirm match format, rules, and conditions, master clock, and backups to use, boundary, allowances, display of runs, wickets, and overs
What else is to discuss in the scorers briefing?
Agree and confirm with them your pre-signals, agree acknowledgement of signals. Any assistance they might provide. Control of and restricted access to the spare balls. Discuss and identify all young players
