Kennedy decided not to launch an attack on Cuba, he set up a naval blockade around Cuba

they thought the soviets would ignore the naval blockade and they would trigger a war

he ordered the soviet ships to turn around, but the Americans did not know and that the ships where still sailing to the blockade
