Fibroadenoma
Describe the examination findings of a fibroadenoma.
- Highly mobile lesions
- Well-defined and rubbery
- Less that 5cm
- Multiple and bilateral
What is the malignant potential of a fibroadenoma?
Very low
What is the treatment for fibroadenoma?
Follow up- over 2 years, 30% get smaller
When would you excise a fibroadenoma?
- 3cm+
- Patient preference
What is an adenoma?
Benign glandular tumour
Describe the examination findings of an adenoma.
- Nodular
- Mimic malignancy
How is adenoma treated?
2ww for triple assessment
What is a papilloma?
Benign intra-ductal condition
Describe the examination findings of a papilloma.
- Typically sub-areolar
- Clear or bloody discharge
- Only larger papilloma present as a mass
What does a papilloma look like on imaging?
Like a ductal carcinoma- requires biopsy to differentiate
What is the treatment of papilloma?
- Some cases excised to ensure no atypical cells remain
Which cases of papilloma have a breast cancer risk, and how are they treated?
Multiductal papilloma- microdochectomy
What is a lipoma?
Benign adipose tumour
