Duct ectasia is a cause of non infection mastitis-usually another word for non-peurperal mastitis-dilation of the duct causing discharge. walls thicken and clog
Intraductal papilloma is a wart like lump that develops within breast ducts-also causes discharge
Aetiology and risk factors of duct ectasia and intraductal papilloma
Ectasia is dilation and shortening of terminal duct of breast (within 3cm of nipple)-normal variation
ectasia is more common the older-over 40.menopause, and NON smokers (periductal mastitis is-and present younger
intraductal papilloma-more common in younger women

Nipple inversion and GREEN and thick
thats all-not painful, infected etc
Papilloma-
discharge from the nipple-clear or blood streaked
small lumps can be noticed BEHIND/Near nipple
not painful
Investigation of duct ectasia and intraductal papilloma
mammography-can measure dilation for ectasia and see the lump
test the discharge-cells/infection markers make it less likely to be these
ductoscopy-can get imagine and sizing-best
