16
Q

Investigation findings for breast cyst?

A

Mammography can’t distinguish solid from cystic so USS follow-up necessary
FNA - cyst completely drained and fluid is straw-coloured (no need for cytology), if any blood, refer for cytology

17
Q

Investigation findings for ductal ectasia?

A

Microcalcification on imaging

18
Q

2 other benign breast conditions?

A

Fat necrosis

Intraductal papilloma

19
Q

Fat necrosis clinical picture?

A

Normally occurs secondary to trauma, in women of any age

- painful, irregular hard lump with overlying bruising/redness of the skin

20
Q

Intraductal papilloma clinical picture?

A

Benign neoplasm growing within ducts of the breast
Occurs in peri/post-menopausal women
- subareolar mass (usually small) with bloody or clear nipple discharge
