A.Roman Catholics
B.Protestants- Quakers,Baptists, Salvation Army
C.Orthodox Christians
What does monotheistic mean?
One God
What does omnipotent mean?
God is all powerful-still allows people to have free will
What does benevolent mean?
Loving and caring- “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son”
What is Just Judge?
God judges everyone fairly “Matthew 25:31-46
What does omnisicient mean?
God knows everything
What does transcendent mean?
God is beyond the world
What does immanent mean?
God is present in the human world
What is the trinity?
The idea that God exists in three persons, The Father ,The Son and the Holy Spirit
What is Moral evil?
It is Human Made evil
It is when suffering is brought about by the cruel actions of people-This is things like murder, war, rape and torture.
The person causing the evil is able to make a choice about what is morally right or wrong.
What is Natural Evil?
This mind of evil, and suffering that comes with it is caused by the world in which we live, and is no ones fault.
This is things such as disease, flood, earthquakes and hurricanes.
However some may believe that natural disasters may have been caused by the human interference in the world and raising questions about if those events are human made.
Two beliefs about judgement?
Some believe all of humanity will be judged at the Last Judgement. Those that find God acceptable will enter Heaven-The rest will go to hell (Matthew 25:31-46)
However some Christians ,e.g Roman Catholics believe in a personal day of judgement straight after a person dies- Their actions will be judged and they’ll got heaven or hell straight away.
What is original sin?
Original Sin means that everyone is born capable of sin.
Many believe that Jesus’s Death and suffering won forgiveness and ensure them redemption from sin.
Christian beliefs FOR the Crucifixion of Jesus?
Most Christians believed that Jesus was born without sin but God placed all the sins of the world on him at his Crucifixion. Roman 3:21-26 teaches that his sacrifice paid for their sins,so long as they have faith in him
Jesus’s actions brought that reconciliation between God and Humanity- The atonement.
His power was so great that after he was crucified, death couldn’t keep hold of him.
Christian beliefs AGAINST the crucifixion of Jesus?
Corinthians 13:5 says that love “keeps no record of wrongs”- Many Christians believe that Jesus’s death was not required for a loving and merciful God to be able to forgive peoples sins.
Some say Jesus’s death shows God’s love for humankind through his willingness to suffer and die as humans so. His resurrection showed how God could triumph over sin and death-so people would not fear of evil.
