What are the three parts of God?
The Father (transcendent), The Son (immanent)and The Holy Spirit (immanent but impersonal).
What is anthropomorphism?
Describing God in human image e.g. a shepherd.
What is a monotheist?
Someone who believes in one God only.
How is God described?
Transcendent. Eternal. Omni-potnet/scient/benevolent. Genesis: image of God. Isaiah: God as a mother. Matthew: Jesus is son of God.
What is the ontological argument?
God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived, therefore He must exist. St Anselm of Canterbury.
What is the cosmological argument?
The universe must have come from somewhere, and God is the ‘First Cause’. St Thomas Aquinas.
What is the teleological argument?
The world shows that it has been designed, and so must have been designed by someone. Issac Newton. William Paley- watch.
What are other arguments for the existence of God?
Experience. Moral argument. Intelligent design. Necessary being.
What are some arguments against the existence of God?
If there is no God, where cometh any good? Boethius. If God didn’t exist, it would be necessary to invent him. Volataire. Problem of Evil. Hume, Rowan Williams.
What is a miracle?
Christianity is founded on miracles. Against laws of nature.Sign of God’s love an power. Resurrection. Incarnation. Lourdes.
