Red Reserva 2 years of aging, white - 6 months, red nobre must undergo 3 years of aging and contain min 12% alcohol, white nobre must contain min 15% Encruzado and max 85% of Cercial, Bical, Malvasia Fina, Verdelho. They undergo 1 year of aging and must contain 11.5% alcohol.
With additional aging and 0.5% alcohol nobre might be labeled Reserva or garrafeira. Nobre Reserva red aged for 42 months, white nobre Reserva aged for 1 year. Red nobre garrafeira require 48 months aging, including 18 months in the bottle, white nobre garrafeira requires 18 months of aging with 9 in bottle
