Conditioned response
The response produced by the conditional stimulus on its own
A new association produced so that the neutral stimulus now produces the unconditional response is now conditional response
Conditioned stimulus
A stimulus that only produces the desired response after pairing with unconditional stimulus
Neutral stimulus
Any stimulus does not produce the desired response
Becomes a conditional stimulus after being pared with unconditional stimulus
Unconditional stimulus
An unlearned response to an unconditional stimulus
Unconditional response
Any stimulus that produces response without learning taking place
Classical conditional
A form of learning where neutral stimulus is associated with an unconditional stimulus, taking on its own properties so that new stimulus response is learned
Operant conditioning
A form of learning that behaviour is maintained or shaped to be better
Reinforcement
A behaviour followed by consequence which will occur again
Positive reinforcement
Behaviour followed by something pleasant
Negative reinforcement
Behaviour followed by removing something unpleasant
Punishment
Consequence to a behaviour if unpleasant less likely to occur again

Motivation
To behave in a certain way to achieves goals and satisfies needs
Extrinsic motivation
Engaging in behaviour to gain an external reward and avoid external punishment
Often behave in a way to get a reward or avoid punishment
According to behaviourist behaviour tends to occur more when gaining reward
We can be extrinsically motivated when others are being rewarded
Intrinsic motivation
Engaging with behaviour to gain internal reward such as pleasure
You doing something for its own benefit
Intrinsic motivation is given by source you enjoy
Self determination theory
One side of this theory is entirely intrinsic example you might to an essay as u enjoy doing it
At the other side extrinsic behaviour is entirely self determination example when u write an essay to get a reward
Strength and weakness
Strength
This model shows intrinsic motivation has a biological bias on the brain
Weakness
This shows to focus on two types of motivation and not give a complete picture of behaviourist
Modelling
Eithier an observer imititating the behavior of a model
Model demonstrate a behaviour that may be imitated by an observer
Social learning
Form of learning
Behaviour acquired through observation and imitation and vicarious reinforcement
Vicarious reinforcement
Behaviour limited if the learner motivated to do so
If observer sees a model performing an action and being reinforced thus makes me it likely for observer to repeat action
Imitation
Observer may imitate model
More likely for observer to identifies model
