Eyes open, pupils dilated
Wide open mouth breathing if very stressed
May perform a “stress purr”

Feet on the ground- ready for fight/flight response

Growling, hissing and spitting Eyes open and pupils are fully dilated Body flattened, back may arch if stood Tail lashing or tightly wrapped Ears flattened May lash out with front feet but body held back

Tail loosely wrapped around body if lying, upright and tip curved if standing
