Tabula rasa

Tabula rasa: you are born as a blank slate
Stimulus: anything, internal or external, that brings about a response
Response: any reaction in the presence of the stimulus
Reinforcement: the process by which a response is strengthened
What is Unconditioned stimulus and Unconditioned response
An Unconditioned stimulus = is a stimulus the elicits a response that the subject does unaware (Unconditioned response)
What is a Neutral stimulus
A Neutral stimulus is a stimulus that does show any physical signs of response eg metronome’s ticking
What is a Conditioned Response and
Conditioned Stimulus.
A Conditioned Response is after combining the US and the NS which later gives you the same affect as the US but only when the NS is there
• Conditioned Stimulus = CS ( NS after it adopts the affects of the Us)
What is Pavlov and Skinner famous for respectively
Pavlova dogs (salivating at the sound of food) skinners box ( shocking mice until the learn)
Does it work on humans
Yes Little Albert was scared of white mice ( and fluffy objects ) after the experience.
Negative reinforcement
A promise that the negative aspects of someone’s life will end once they achieve the task.
Positive reinforcement
A promise of positive aspects being introduced into someone’s life once the task is complete.
