9
Q

The noise was a _____ as it naturally produces ____ (___)

16
Q

What is -ve reinforcement?

A

removal of something -ve when a behaviour is performed

17
Q

Which type of reinforcement describes how phobias are maintained?

A

-ve reinforcement

18
Q

How does operant conditioning maintain phobias?

A

Sufferers avoid phobic stimulus this means the feelings of fear are removed (removal of something -ve). this leads to a desirable consequence (reduced anxiety. the reduction in anxiety reinforces the avoidance behaviour and maintains the phobia. Both types of reinforcement increase the likelihood of a behaviour being repeated.
