Autism Spectrum Disorder
-Considered a neurodevelopmental disorder. -Symptoms are typically noticeable in the second year of life. - Struggle with social interactions, difficulties with verbal and nonverbal communication, and engage in repetitive and ritualistic behaviors. - A spectrum because degree of impairment varies widely.
Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disoder
-Considered a neurodevelopmental disorder. -Difficulty communicating with others that begins in childhood. Similar communication difficulties as ASD. -Does not include restricted/repetitive behaviors.
Conduct Disorder
-For children and adolescents. -More serious than ODD. -Includes lying, stealing, violating others’ rights, and physical aggression.
Intermittent Explosive Disorder
-Onset typically occurs in late childhood or adolescents. -Recurrent aggressive outbursts, verbal or physical or both.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
-For children and adolescents. -Argue with authority figures and disobey rules. -Angry, vindictive, argumentative.
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
-Neurodevelopmental disorder. -Difficulty sustaining attention, being revved-up and full of excessive energy, and impulsive behavior. -Symptoms must occur before age 12 and occur in at least 2 settings.
