Behavior training Flashcards
classical conditioning
Called association learning, deals with physiology (ring bell, expecting food)
Trial and error
“Two feet in a box” or rats in a maze to find food..
operant conditioning
Animal learns to respond to a certain stimulus with an acceptable behavior instead of its previously unacceptable response (drop treats while getting history)
observational learning
Learn by watching other (i.e. lambs watching their mothers eat)
flooding
Overexposure to the same fearful stimulus at the same level and they cannot escape from it.
habituation
Continuous exposure to a stimulus (might be fearful or new)
Can walk away from it and doesn’t seem so scary overtime
desensitization
Exposure to a low level stimulus
Gradually increase keeping below threshold needed to produce the undesired behavior
May eventually get used to it
