where etruscans located and what were they credited to be?
located in etruria(north) and they were credited to be the 1st to “build-up” rome
etruscans built:
1st maj. road, drained swamps, built formu, markets, monuments, and common housing.
what did the etrus. contribute to?
use of alphabet, toga, as/wheat as symbol of power
the etrus. conquered latins (latium) and created a government of 3 levels/tiers and they were:
- King, 2. Senate, 3. Curiate Assembly
- King characteristics:
they were elected and served for life
imperium definition:
total/absolute power
- Senate characteristics:
they were nobles, elected, and advised king
- Curiate Assembly characteristics:
often soldiers, elected king/senators, sometimes viewed as a “polling” group, and king allowed them to vote on agenda/issue
