The investigation and exploration of natural events and of the new information that results from those investigations.
SCIENCE
The results of using one or more of your senses to gather information and taking note of what occurs.
observation
A logical explanation of an observation that is drawn from prior knowledge or experience.
inference
A possible explanation for an observation that can be tested by scientific investigations.
Hypothsis
A statement of what will happen next in a sequence of events.
prediction
Anything that changes

One thing you intend to change in an experiment
An independent Variable
The practical use of scientific knowledge, especially for industrial or commercial use.
Technology
Changes as a result of the independent variable; what we do not know and are testing to find out.
A Dependent variable
A rule that describes a repeatable pattern in nature.
Scientific Law
Comparing what you already know with the information you are given in order to decide whether you agree with it.
Critical thinking
Variable that does not change during the experiment so that it can be used as a base for comparison.
A constant
What we are comparing our experiment to; our “normal” “original” item.
