Beginning Flashcards
What statistic do you need to start planning for something to happen
If the chances are < 1 in 1,000,000
What is a class A aircraft
All multi engine turbo jets
Multi engine turboprops > 5,700kg
And / or
10 or more passenger seats
What is class B aircraft
Multi engine turbo prop < 5,700kg
And
9 or less seats
Multi engine piston
Single engine piston
What is class C aircraft
Large multi engine piston
10 or more seats
And / or
5,700kg
What is measured performance
Performance determined that a aircraft can achieve brand new with a test pilot
What is gross performance
Average performance from average line pilot using a standard fleet aircraft
What is net performance
Gross performance with the application of a safety factor
Used to asses obstacle clearance
How is safety factor determined
More probability = more safety factor
More range of data = more safety factor
What is TORA
Take off run available
Length of runway able to fully support weight of aircraft
What is stop way
For overrun
Needs to be same width as runway
Does not need to fully support aircraft
Any damage to aircraft Can’t put passengers at risk
What is ASDA
Accelerate stop distance available
TORA + stop way
What is a clear way
Must be a area at end of runway that will be free of any obstacles
At least 75m either side of centre line
Extends to first significant obstacle
Base of Clear way incline at 1.25% gradient
What is a significant obstacle (in a clear way)
Any non frangible object that extends through the base of the clear way by more than 0.9m
What is TODA
TORA + Clearway
Can not be more than 1.5 x TORA
Or
To first significant obstacle
What is a balanced field
When ASDA and TODA are the same distance
