Beginning Flashcards
What is Current?
Flow of electrons in a circuit
What is an Insulator?
A non conductive material that doesn’t conduct electrons
What is Voltage?
Similar to the pushing force, like water in a container, being let out
More electrons?
More voltage
What forces electrons to flow?
Applying a Voltage
How to measure the current in the circuit in what units?
Amp’s (Ampere’s)
Difference between Conventional current and Electron Flow?
Both theories.
One from Benjamin Franklin, electricity flows from Positive (+) to Negative (-), Conventional Current.
Joseph Thompson, electricity, from Negative (-) from to Positive (+)
AC / DC current
Alternating Current
Direct Current
What are special about AC transfomers?
They allow the change of Voltage in the circuit
Also allows for the transport of electricity over long distances
Inverter does?
Converts AC to DC
What is an Amp?
Amp - One Coulomb per Second
Simple Circuit?
1.5 Volts & 1.5 Watt
requires, 1 Amp
Say Amps, instead, why?
Not practical to say: "Coulomb per second" Or "Quadrillion Electrons" so we just say Amp
Light with more resistance?
Less bright!
Resistors
Make it harder for electrons to flow through
