What legal restrictions surround the sale of Kolsch beer?
Since 1997, the term “Kölsch” has had a protected geographical indication (PGI) within the European Union, indicating a beer that is made within 50 kilometres (30 mi) of the city of Cologne and brewed according to the Kölsch Konvention as defined by the members of the Cologne Brewery Association.
What does a Kolsch look like?
It is bright and clear with a straw-yellow hue.

Ale.
What does Kolsch taste like?
Like a strange in between of a larger and an ale. Very drinkable. Designed to be drunk for hours.

Small 200ml glasses which are replaced with fresh ones (with a nice head) as soon as they are finished.
How is Kolsch made?
Strange process. It is made with warm top fermenting yeast like an ale but conditioned/stored cold for months like á lager.

When and where did stout beers originate?
Industrial revolution Britain (mid 16th century). Used to be called Porter. It was cheap, easy to store and seen as nutritious.
What is a Lambic beer?
Lambic beer is from Belgium. Brewed since the 13th century. It’s brewed using wild yeasts rather than carefully selected and cultivated brewers yeasts. It is not an ale or a lager it is a Lambic. Kriek is an instance of Lambic.
What is an Imperial Stout?
It’s a style of stout beer which aimed to make the stout more ‘extra’. It originated in 1800s England and which was favored by the Russian Imperial Court.
What is a Trippel?
It is a strong pale ale often brewed in the low countries.
Seems like first modern use of the term was a Belgium monk brew, using the word to describe their strongest beer.
One theory for the name is each X on a barrel denoted strength so X was single XX was double and XXX was a triple.
What is a pastry stout?
A stout that is brewed to be intentionally sweet and is often made with the addition of plenty of sugary ingredients. They are often full of adjuncts, thick with malts and have a very smooth creamy mouthfeel.
What is a dry hop beer?
It’s where the brewers add hops in at the end of the being process.
