What subjective symptoms can you measure at the bedside?
A
a. Orthopnea - difficulty breathing except in the upright position (CHF)
b. General malaise - run down feeling, nausea, weakness, fatigue, headache (electrolyte imbalance)
c. Dyspnea - a feeling of shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing (five grades, 5 being the worst)
d. Pain
e. Symptoms of the nose and throat, esp. Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)

Open-ended questions
