What kind of system is a payroll system?
Transaction processing system (TPS)
It may be part of an ERP, but it is not an ERP system by itself.
What is a firewall?
A firewall is either (1) a system of user identification and authentication that prevents unauthorized users from gaining access to network resources, or
(2) a network node used to improve network traffic and to set up a boundary that prevents traffic from one network segment from crossing over to another
What is a sourcing requirement?
Sourcing requirements refers to content or value added limits on the percentage of labor or materials used in imported products
Compliance may result in tariff reductions
What is a foreign trade zone?
A foreign trade zone is a physical location in which tariffs are WAIVED on imported products until they leave the zone
What does a switch do?G
A switch can divide a connection into multiple connections
What does a gateway do?
Gateways act as intermediaries among networks and they also convert one protocol into another so that networks can communicate
What do servers do?
Serves provide computing power for other machines on the network, and coordinate programs, data, and other computers so that the network can operate
What do routers do?
Routers assign IP addresses, and manage traffic on a network by connecting those devices
Who is responsible for implementing and maintaining IT governance controls?
Executive management make sure the IT governance structure is in place and is executed
BOD are responsible for all governance processes
What is a hot site?
Hot site- equipped with electrical capabilities and necessary hardware; backup copies of the software and data may be maintained at or near the hot site to expedite recovery process
What is a cold site?
Cold site- has electrical and telecommunication capabilities but no hardware; need to acquire and install hardware before processing capability would be restored
