“Reason” stanza 1&3 start with a verb. This doesn’t. Showing its a mental moment. The change then means you realise your experience is because of the nation and society and people in control. That becomes your focus.

You shouldn’t be controlled by these people. Their power is worthless. ( he feels resentment to higher powers)

Or it could be him giving up and realising humans will drop anything for their life, even that which they always desired. He has to give up his fight for “honour, human dignity”
