Batteries and charging Flashcards
What is the definition of deep discharge?
This is when a battery is dead to the point it cannot be brought back
How long does a HF battery last, and how many batteries does the radio use?
lasts 12 hours, and uses 2 batteries
How long does a VHF battery last, and how many batteries does the radio use?
lasts 8 hours, uses 1 battery
What are the characteristics of the DCCU (Direct Current Charging Unit)? Specifically, the number of charging ports, and the number of VHF and HF batteries that can be charged at once.
4 charging ports
Can charge 4 VHF batteries at once
Can charge 2 HF batteries at once
(HF batteries take up 2 ports for charging, while VHF only take up 1 port)
What are the characteristics of the ACCU (Alternating Current Charging Unit)? Specifically, the number of ports, and how many VHF and HF batteries that can be charged at once.
12 ports
Can charge 12 VHF batteries at once
Can charge 6 HF batteries at once
(HF batteries take up 2 ports for charging, while VHF only take up 1 port)
How long does it take for a battery to charge in the ‘Standard’ charge option?
It can charge a battery in 10 hours, but will automatically time out after 12 hours to save power
How long does it take a battery to charge in the ‘Fast’ charge option?
It can charge a battery in 5 hours in optimum conditions (between 0°C-40°C), but to only be used in a pinch to prevent causing damage. Can increase to 10 hours charging time in extreme temperatures (anything outside of the previously stated).
