Batteries Flashcards
1
Q
3 lead acid battery types
A
FLOODED CELL: most common liquid electrolyte. Maintenance required. Sulphuric acid and water as electrolyte. 2.1V per cell open circuit voltage. Cold=decreased efficiency
GELLED ELECTROLYTE battery: maintenance free, corrosion resistant. Sealed casing cause gas turns back into water.
ABSORPTIVE GLASS MAT: AGM lower internal resistance than gelled cell. No maintenance sealed container
2
Q
What kind of energy does a cell store?
A
Chemical energy, not electrical energy
3
Q
Does physical size of electrode increase its voltage?
A
No, physical size does not effect voltage
4
Q
What is reserve capacity of a lead acid battery measured in?
A
Minutes
