Batteries Flashcards
1
Q
System Purpose:
A
- Supply control power for the AC electrical system. (Except 480V Bus 5, 4KVBus 5, DS bus, and MCCs)
- Supply emergency lighting in the event of AC power lost.
- Supply electrical power for actuation of solenoid operated valves, Reactor Protection system relays and safeguards system initiation relays.
- Normal supply power for Instruments Bus inverters A&B.
2
Q
Batteries A and B desgin:
A
- Sized to provide power to expected shutdown loads.(Maintain bus voltage > 110V for A and 106.8V for B) following a LOVA with LOOP for 1 hour
- EOP network requires that a battery charger be restarted within 30 min. of LOOP. (only the IN service charger will auto-start after power loss)
- Normal Voltage 133-135V
3
Q
A/B (A-1/B-1) Chargers
A
- One in service, one in standby
- Ground detection, flip switch to POS and NEG to check for grounds, <50V on either pos or neg side.
4
Q
A/B room fans
A
- A Fan - MCC-9
- B Fan - MCC-10
- Designed to keep room at 77F
- HI (85F) and LO (69F) alarms with 15min time delay
- IF a battery cell temp falls below 67F the station battery should be considered INOP
5
Q
Charger power supplies
A
- A/A-1 supplied by MCC-5
- B/B-1 supplied by MCC-6
6
Q
Inverter A and B alarm set points
A
- Low Voltage @100VDC
- High Voltage @140VDC
7
Q
Battery “C” supplies:
A
- Emergency bearing oil pump (behind MCC-14)
- Air side seal backup pump
- DP-C
- Alternate power for APP-036 panel (RTGB)
- Main and Aux Xformer control power.
8
Q
Battery Charger “C”
A
-powered by MCC-12
9
Q
Battery “D” and “E”
A
- Control power for building 469 4KV Bus’s
- D-4KV6&7
- E-4KV8&9
10
Q
MCC C doesnt have a?
A
-Inverter

Q
Loss of DC Power will result in:
A
- A reactor and Turbine Trip
- EDG starts but wont load to E-Bus
- Loss of Instrument Bus (2,7 & 3,8)
- Breakers that need to cycle will not function due to the loss of control power
- Control power to many 4KV and 480 breakers is lost, leaving no RTGB light indication for many of the components.
