What is your justification for the baton?
Baton:
The decision to use your baton rests with you.
You may use your baton if in danger of being overpowered or to protect yourself or others from injury.
The force used must always be reasonable.
What is the definition of the baton ?
The Baton
The Baton is manufactured from spun aluminium and is hollow in construction. It is 3.175cm in diameter throughout its length, 66.04cm long and weighs 540 grams
The Baton has a black anodised finish and requires no protective maintenance. The Baton consists of a rounded tip and butt, a shaft and a machine knurled handle to provide a positive grip. A rubber retaining grommet is fitted to allow the baton to be carried in the baton ring on the belt.

The Expandable Baton and the definition ?
The Expandable Baton issued by the NSW Police Force is supplied by ASP; it consists of two hollow, telescoping shafts contained within a handle. The ASP Expandable Baton is manufactured from 41/40 grade alloy steel. It is 51.28cm in length (expanded) and 19.74cm in length (closed) and weighs 462 grams.
The Expandable Baton has an end cap, handle, middle shaft, end shaft and a tip. When extended, the middle shaft and end shaft are locked into place by friction. The expandable baton has a black anodised finish which requires no protective maintenance other than drying with a soft cloth if wet.
