High pitched crow with too few sounds.
2 causes/remedies
1. Embouchure too tight, or pinched/decrease pressure in embouchure.
2. Reed is too stiff, closed off/check thickness of reed, balance in cane.
Unsupported sound on low F on Bassoon
2 Remedies:
1. Faster air stream.
2. Slightly increase lower jaw support.
Playing generally flat/sharp on bassoon
3 Causes:
1. The reed is not hard enough./Reed is too hard.
2. The bocal is too long./bocal is too short.
3. The embouchure is too relaxed./extra tension in the shoulders.
Low pitched crow with too few sounds.
2 Causes/remedies:
1. Lack of Embouchure support./More embouchure support to dampen reed.
2. Reed is too long and/or too wide./Change length and/or width of reed.
What are the characteristics of a well-formed oboe Embouchure?
- The jaws should be separated.
- The tongue will be low in the mouth.
- The corners of the mouth are firm and forward.
- The chin should be down and firm.
How do you play a sharp note down on Saxophone?
- Open Embouchure
- Drop Jaw
- Open throat a little bit
Generally, an oboe player often takes too much reed into the mouth and exerts excessive jaw pressure. If that is true, what issues does it present?
- Sharp pitch
- Poor tone quality
- Harder to adjust the pitch
