What does slounge mean ?
Slounge is a combination of slouch and lounge, so it gives you the impression of the basking shark moving very slowly.
What does shoggled mean ?
Shoggled is something that is being shook.
What is tin-tacked rain ?
This is rain hitting giving a ripple effect on the water.
Why does he think about who the monster is ?
He is comparing us to the shark and questioning who the monster is which really it is us.
What technique is used in line 13 ?
In this like a rhetorical question is being used when he questions who the monster is.

A theme is about the process of evolution and our own place in it.
What turns out to be the ‘rock’ ?
He though he bumped into a rock when really it was the basking shark but he didn’t realise because he was getting tin-tacked with rain.
