The first basketballs were the color
brown
To help visibility Tony Hinkle of Butler came up with the idea to develop the
orange ball in 1957.
Dribble the ball approaching the basket
at an angle.
At the distance of 2 strides away from the basket (for a Right hand lay-up) pick up the ball with
your left hand in front and under the ball.
Place the right hand
on top and slightly behind the ball.
Bring the ball to the
shoulder and head height as the left foot pushes off of the floor.
Bring your
right knee up
Place the ball rather than
throw it against the backboard aiming at the inside of the box painted on the backboard.
Follow through with the
palm of your right hand in the direction of the basket
Reverse
hands and feet for a left handed lay-up.
