Cross over dribble
Switch from dribbling with dominant and non dominant hand
Used to shield ball from defender or move i specific direction
Rules of dribbling
Waist height
Dribble with finger pads
Work on using strong and weak hand
Travel
Moving without dribbling
Double dribble
Dribbling basketball with both hands at the same time OR dribbling, picking up the ball, and dribbling again
Chest pass
(Chest to chest) Most effecting when you have a clear passing lane, not being closely guarded
Bounce pass
(Chest to floor to waist) this pass is most effective when you are being closely guarded and the ball could be intercepted in air
Triple threat position
When u catch the ball you can dribble, pass or shoot easily
When receiving, ghouls should catch like this
Free throws
If the player had been fouled, 1 point opportunity(ies)
Lay up
A 2 step approach taken at angle to basket
Attempts to lay the ball up onto the backboard, hitting top corner of box
Shielding
Protecting the ball by dribbling in the hand furthest from the defender and using free hand and side of body to protect the ball
Offensive rebound
The shooting team misses the basket, but catches the ball and regains possession
Man to man defense:
Each player on 1 team chooses one form the other team to take the responsibility of guarding
When guarding try to stay between the player and the basket
Fouls
Pushing, tripping, slapping, contact w person when going for ball
Defensive rebound
When the non shooting team catches a missed shot by the offense
Half court defense
You can only guard your person when they come on to their shooting side of the court
