Basics Flashcards
The 8 basic factors when interpreting an ECG
Rate, rhythm, axis, P wave, PR interval, QRS complex, ST segment, T wave
What is each large box worth in time
0.2 seconds
What is each small small box worth in time
0.04 sec
6 factors to consider when thinking of rhythm
electrical activity?, heart rate, is the rhythm irregular or regular, are the QRS narrow/broad, p waves present?relationship between P and QRS`
What is the axis
The sum direction of all electrical activity in the heart
Normal heart axis degrees
-30 to +90
What is the PR interval
The AV nodal delay to allow for ventricular filing and prevent rapid firing rate
What is a normal PR interval
120 - 200ms (3-5 small squares)
What is normal QRS length
less then 120 ms (3 small squares)
What does QT interval represent
Ventricular repolarisation
What does the P wave represent
atrial depolarisation
R wave amplitude should ? from v1 - v6
increase
What does the T wave represent
ventricular repolarisation
Give 8 supraventricular rhythms
sinus rhythm, sinus arrhythmia, artial fibrillation, atrial flutter, wandering atrial pacemaker, AVNRT, SVT, AVNRT (WPW)
What is sinus arryhtmia
It is a normal physiological response to breathing. There is sinus rhythm but rhythm itself is irregular. The PR interval is irregular. P and QRS both present and precedeed/succeeded by each other
