Basics Flashcards
What is newtons first law?
Balanced Forces- if the forces on an object are balanced, then the object will have an acceleration of zero.
What is newtons second law?
Unbalanced Forces- if the forces on an object are unbalanced then the object will experience a “rate of change of momentum”. This leads to Force = mass x acceleration.
What is newtons third law?
Forces in Pairs- for every force, there is an equal but opposite force.
What is the equation for momentum?
Momentum (curly P) = mass x velocity
What is the suvat equation without distance?
V = U + at
What is the suvat equation without time?
V^2 = U^2 + 2aS
What is the suvat equation without final velocity?
S = Ut + 1/2(a)t^2
What is the suvat equation without initial velocity?
S = Vt - 1/2(a) t^2
what is the suvat equation without acceleration?
S = ((V+U)/2)t
When ADDING or SUBTRACTING two numbers with uncertainties what is the resultant uncertainty?
The sum of the absolute errors.
When MULTIPLYING or DIVIDING two numbers with uncertainties what is the resultant uncertainty?
The sum of the percentage errors.
What is Keplers first law?
Planets order the sun in an ellipse with the sun as one foci.
What is Keplers second law?
A planet will sweep out equal orbital areas in equal time.
What is Keplers third law?
T^2 is directly proportional to R^3
