Freud and ocd in relation to religion?
Repeated actions (rituals) that
If they are omitted cause discomfort (compulsion/duty)
And are unique (religion is shared)
Rationalism according to Marx
Actual suffering protests suffering
Religion is a human expression
Why is religion distracting according to Marx?
It wastes energy that could be used in other ways.
If you take religion away, people will see the full horror of their lives and want to change them
People can’t see the results of their labor
Religion coerces labor (like cathedral building)
“Family resemblance” in religion
There is no one thing all religions have, but if you put them close to each other you will see similarities
