Basics Flashcards
Antagonist
A drug that blocks or opposes the response of another drug
Agonist
A drug that produces a stimulatory response to promote the action of another drug
Synergism
Combined action of two or more agents creates a response greater than what would be achieved with the drugs individually
Anabolic Steroids
Related to estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and corticosteroids
Parenteral
Injection of a drug (no introduced through the GI tract)
Degree for intradermal
15 degrees
Degree for subcutaneous
45 degrees
Degree for intramuscular
90 degrees
Needle gauge
Larger the number the smaller the size of the needle
