Distance of a structure from the origin- shoulder is proximal to the elbow

Far from the origin of the structure- wrist is distal to the elbow when thinking of the origin to the upper limb

Why do you need to see organs in many different planes/ orientations?
Different body parts look different in different planes- clinical relevance when CT scans/ X rays/ MRI- taken in different planes
