General Somatic Afferent
General Somatic Afferent is General….
Sensory
Where are the cells for General Somatic Afferent (General Sensory)? What kinds of information do they transport?
The cells start in skin, muscles, joints, etc (things that are associated with somatic innervation that you can control). The cell has its cell body in a ganglia (ie, trigeminal ganglia), and then enters the brain/hindbrain. They conduct pain, touch, temperature from skin, muscles, tendons, and joints.
SSA stands for? Aka?
Special Somatic Afferent; Special Sensory
What do the Special Sensory (Special Somatic Afferent) cells do?
Transport info from special senses of hearing, vision, balance.
GVA means? Aka?
General Visceral Afferent. Visceral Sensory.
What do the General Visceral Afferent (Visceral Sensory) cells transport?
Transport sensory information from viscera, glands, blood vessels.
SVA means? Aka?
Special Visceral Afferent. Special Sensory.
What do the Special Visceral Afferent fibers do?
Carry special senses of taste and smell. (These senses are kind of part of viscera; they are part of the visceral/digestive system.)
GVE? Aka?
General Visceral Efferent. General (not special)/AUTONOMIC MOTOR.
What are the types of General Visceral Efferent (General/Autonomic Motor)?
Preganglionic parasympathetic; postganglionic parasympathetic….. Preganglionic sympathetic; postganglionic sympathetic.
What do the General Visceral Efferent fibers do?
Innervate cardiac muscle, smooth muscle, and glands. (Could be parasympathetic or sympathetic). You cannot voluntarily control these; they are under autonomic control.
GSE? Aka?
General Somatic Efferent. General (not special)/SOMATIC MOTOR. You can voluntarily control these.
SVE? Aka?
Special Visceral Efferent. Branchial motor (the muscle it innervates came from branchial arches). SVE=sounds very embryo-like. They are also be Visceral motor (V3, VII, IX, X)
