defamation
the willful use of false statements to damage another person’s character or reputation or to adversely affect a person’s means of earning a living
libel
type of defamation communicated through some sort of visual medium such as writing, pictures, drawing, tv, etc.
slander
defamation communicated through spoken word
malicious prosecution
one party brings a civil suit against another party with malice and without probable cause
probable cause
without reasonable grounds for believing the allegations are true
trespass
willful unauthorized intrusion on real property
conversion
unauthorized use or profit from someone else’s real or private property
willful neglect
deliberate and intentional failure to fulfill a legal duty towards another person
wrongful death
a death that results from a wrongful act
