The courts have a system of hierarchy. What is meant by this?
A
That the higher courts are more powerful then the lower courts. Therefore, the higher courts can overturn decisions of the lower courts

What is ‘judicial precedent’?
A
is a decision of the court used as a source for future decision making. This is known as stare decisis (to stand upon decisions) and by which precedents are authoritative and binding and must be followed.
