Basic physics (re) Flashcards
yayaya know ur symbol of units, use the book cuz we still want to learn a new technique
Okay
Describe scalar quantity?
Only magnitude e.g. temperature = 20 degrees celsius
Describe vector quantity?
Magnitude and direction e.g. velocity = 50 m/s East
How do u resolve vectors?
SoH Cah ToA
U wanna have the scalars and vectors? come and take it
(pg 6.)
okay
Equation for horizonal component?
x = Z Cos ()
Equation for vertical component?
y = Z Sin ()
How to resolve several coplanar vectors?
(4 steps)
- Resolve horizontal & vertical components
- Add up horizontal components & vertical components respectfully
- Calculate resultant using pythag’ theorem
- Find angle using trigonometry
1 tip for resolving several coplanar vectors?
- Consider force from other direction may be minused on the bigger force (also u can just do the minus during the calculation)
I mean this more like mental note yano
Whats the contact force on a banked slope?
And how to calculate it?
Well it’s on the right angle ig?
And u do w x cos
What’s the weight down slope on banked slope?
And how to calculate it?
Hypotenuse….
Also this one’s w x sin
How to find w? (weight)
= mg (Mass x Gravity)
Equation for p? (density)
= m/v (Mass/Volume)
Define C of Mass
The point where total mass of object can be treated as a single point
Define C of Gravity
Single point within a body at which entire weight of body may be considered to act
What steps to finding CoG using plum line?
5 steps
- Hang object freely from 1 corner
- Draw line from suspended plumbline you’ve hung as well
- Hang object from another corner
- Repeat step 2
- Where line meets = CoG
The condition of CoG & CoM to coincide?
When there’s a uniform gravity present in the region
What can cause vehicle to tip over?
When CoG passes point of pivot
How to increase size of moment?
- Increase force
- Increase perpendicular distance between force and pivot
Unit of moment?
Nm
What principle of moments state?
When in rotational equilibrium, sum of clockwise moments must = sum of anti-clockwise moments
What the 2 conditions for a system to be in equilibrium?
No net force
No net moment
Define moment of a force?
The turning effect of a force applied to a rotational system at a distance from the axis of rotation
Page 29 and onwards are all the questions, i advise u answer basically the homework again off by heart assuming that u did revise everything up until here. But ye take ur time, understand ur shit, technique type shit
okay
