Q

arthropod cns

A
  • segmented body with clusters of neural processing (ganglia) along ventral (bottom) surface
  • historically one ganglion per segment but some have fused/been lost as segments have lost appendages

Q

arthropod brain

A
  • fusion of multiple different ganglia that control different sensory segments
  • protocerebrum, deutocerebrum, tritocerebrum

Q

vertebrate spinal chord

A
  • segmented by different nerves entering and exiting at each vertebrae
  • grey matter inside spinal chord contain Nissl bodies, structures that synthesise neurostransmitters
  • white matter around outside of spinal chord contain myelinated axons
  • dorsal root = sensory neurons in
  • ventral root = motor neurons out
