What is the algorithm for BLS?
D - Danger
R - Responsive
S - Send for Help
A - Airway (check open and for obstructions
B - Breathing ( is t normal)
C - CPR (Start CPR)
D - Defibrillator (Attach the AED device)
What is the ratio for CPR?
- compressions per breaths
- Rate of compressions
- Depth
- Position of hands
- Rate 100-120 p/m
- 30:2 compressions to breaths
- 1/3 of chest depth
- Lower half of sternum
What should be assessed before starting CPR?
Airway
Breathing
Response to Stimuli
Before starting CPR in an adult?
CPR is commence after checking breathing
Difference in BLS in children compared to adults!
<9 years old 2 rescue breaths given prior to starting CPR
Same ratios and ventilations in both adult and children
What is the correct steps when attaching and using AED?
6 steps
1) Turn on AED
2) Attach pads
3) Stop CPR to analysis rhythm
4) Stand back charge AAED
5) Check everyone is clear Shock
6) Start CPR
