What is the meaning of law?
a rule of conduct or action passed by the Parliament and enforced by a controlling authority.
What are values?
beliefs of a person or social group in which they have an emotional investment either for or against something.
What are ethics?
a standard of behaviour
What is common law?
judge made law
What is stated by the rule of law?
that it is required that we have laws that are followed and enforced and that no one is above the law.
What are the factors of nature of justice?
Equality, fairness and access
What are customs?
established patterns of behaviour among people in society or a group.
What are rules?
an accepted principle or instruction that states the way thing are or should be done, and tell you what you are not and are allowed to do.
What does procedural fairness refer to?
the idea that there must be fairness in the process of resolving disputes.
What are the characteristics of just laws?
it is equal, it is based on widely held values, it is utilitarian, and it must not be retrospective
What is anarchy?
a state of chaos and disorder resulting from the absence of rules and laws.
What is tyranny?
a form of government where a single entity has unlimited power over the people in their country or state and use said power unfairly and cruelly
