Basic Graphic and Infographic Designs Flashcards
What are the Basic Elements of Design?
Point, Line, and Space
Simply a dot.
Point
Connection of two or more points.
Line
A visual container, drawing attention to other elements in a layout.
Space
A two- or three-dimensional object that stands out from the space next to it because of a defined boundary.

Color
How large or small something is in a document.
Size
Look or feel of a surface
Texture
Equal distribution of weight, specifically, visual weight.
Balance
Types of Balance
Symmetry (even distribution of elements in design) and Asymmetry (uneven arrangement of elements)
Placement of heavy and light elements within a page.
Contrast
Distribution of heavy and light elements in a design
Emphasis
Repetition of heavy and light elements in a design.
Rhythm
Feeling of harmony created by all parts of the design.
