Proper nouns
They show the action of the sentence.
Action verb
They link the subject to the rest of the sentence. They stand alone and take the place of an action verb.
Linking verb
Help the action verb make more sense
Helping verbs
They take the place of specific names things, people, or places.
Pronouns
They act as the subject of the sentence.
Subjective pronoun
They act as the object receiving the action in the sentence.
Objective pronoun
They tell who owns something.
Possessive pronouns
They describe or tell me more about nouns people places things were ideas.
Adjectives
Describe verbs adjectives and other adverbs.
Adverbs
They name a person, place, thing, idea, or animal.
