What does CPR stand for?
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
What is an emergency?
An unpreceen event or condition requiring prompt medical attention
What is the ratio for CPR? What about hands only CPR
- 30 compression, 2 breaths
- nonstop compression, no breaths
What arethe ABCs?
Airway (headlift, chinlift)
Breathing (look, listen and feel)
Circulation (pulse)
What do you do for a sprain?
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
What doyoudo for a nosebleed?
Pinch bridge of nose
DONT:
Lay down or pull head back
What do you do in caseofan emergency?
Asess scene and victim
Alert- call 911
Attend to victim (only if scene is safe)
What should you check for in the victim?
Deformity
Open wound
Tenderness
Swelling
What do you do if the victim has a bruise?
Ice
Only be concerned if in abdominal region (might indicate internal damage)
What do you do if the victim has a scrape?
Apply moderate pressure when bandaging it
What do you do if the victim has a deep cut?
Stop bleeding and wait for help
How do you treat a 1st degree burn?
Apply cold water to area, use a sterile bandage to cover it, dont touch burned are
What do you do to treat a 3rd degree burn?
Put out fire, elevate affected area, go to the hospital
Victim will feel no pain (nerves burned off)
How do you treat a bee sting?
- Scrape stinger
- clean area w/ soap and water
- ice
What do you do if the victim has been poisoned?
- identify poison
- call 911
- wait for professional help
What are the symptoms of a victim tha has been burned?
Redness
Swelljng
Blisters
No feeling
What are the symptoms of a victim that has been poisoned?
Nausea
Redness around mouth
Pain
What are the symptoms for frostbite?
Extremeties turn a waxish blue
What is hypothermia?
Body is pulling all the blood to the main organs because it looses its ability to get warm
What do you do if the victim has frostbite?
Get warm Wrap fingers seperatly Get wet clothes off Put hands under armpits Call 911
What is a heat stroke?
Bldy looses ability to cool off
LIFE THREATNING
What are the symptoms for heat exhaustion
Muscle cramps
Dizziness
What do you do if someone has heat exhaustion?
Give water
Take to a cool area
What do you do if someone has a heat stroke?
Cool of body with ice packs
Call 911
DONT GIVE ANYTHING TO DRINK
