If a singular noun ends in -s, there are two possible forms: 1. Add an apostrophe and -s: Thom as’s book. 2. Add only an apostrophe: Thom as’ book.

Add only an apostrophe to a plural noun that ends in -s: The g irls ’ books are on the table. Add an apostrophe and -sto plural nouns that do not end in -s: The m e n ’s books are on the table.

A lan and Lisa’s apartment is on the third floor.

When two (or more) names are connected by and, only the final name shows possession.
