Basic Electronic Intelligence Theory Flashcards
What are the 7 components of a sine wave?
Wave length Frequency Period Peak amplitude Peak to peak amplitude Phase Cycle
What is polarisation?
The direction of plane of the E field of an EM wave radiated from an antenna. Generally relative to the earths surface.
What are the 4 types of polarisation?
Linear
Elliptical
Rotating
Circular
What are the 3 types of propagation?
Sky wave
Ground wave
Direct wave
What are the 2 types of ducting?
Surface ducting
Elevated ducting
What are the 5 types of fading?
Polarisation Interference Selective Skip Absorption
What are the 4 components of a pulse?
Rise time 10% to 90%
Decay time 90% to 10%
Pulse width 70% to 70%
Pulse amplitude
What are the 8 pulse types?
Rectangular Square Saw tooth Multipulse Cosine squared Exponential Stepped Bandwidth limited
Define PRI?
The interval between pulses from leading edge to leading edge.
Define PRI?
The number of pulses generated by a radar in one second.
Define range resolution?
A radars ability to discriminate between 2 targets.
Define pulse duration?
The actual time a radar is transmitting measured in Us.
Define minimum range?
The minimum range from a radar that a target can be detected.
Define radar kilometre?
The time it takes a transmitted pulse to travel 1 kilometre and back.
Define Doppler shift?
The difference between a transmitted frequency and a received frequency.
Define SSR?
An interrogator sends out a signal that is received by a transponder. The transponder may reply to determine if it’s friendly.
What are the 6 types of inter pulse modulation?
Stagger Dwell and switch Jitter Pulse frequency modulation Sliding Multipulse
