Basic Electrical Theory Flashcards
Define Electricity
The flow of electrons through a conductor.
Define Conductor
Material such as copper, through which electricity flows.
Define Insulator
Material, such as rubber, through which it is difficult for electricity to flow.
Define Voltage
Electrical Pressure.
Define Current
The flow of electrons through a conductor when voltage is applied.
Define Circuit
Path where electrical current flows.
What are the 3 components of an electrical circuit?
- Source
- Conductor
- Load
What is Generation?
Source of electrical power.
What is the Transmission System?
A means of transmitting electrical power over some distance to the load centers.
What is the Distribution System?
A means of distributing electrical power at the proper voltage to the individual customers.
