Apps
software that allows users to perform a certain task
Utilities
Applications to help analyze, configure, optimize, maintain a computer. Utilities are (unlike apps that support the user), used to support a computer. Example: app that helps configure mouse buttons.
Operating System (OS)
Software that manages computer hardware and software. It is a system that sits between apps and hardware.
Platform
Environment in which a piece of software is executed (Word on platform Windows).
Feature
Distinctive characteristics of hardware or software.
SaaS
Software licensed on a subscription basis.
Plugin
Component that adds specific features to software. Also called extension.
API/Application Program Interface
Set of clearly defined methods of communication between software
Console
User interface that manages and controls hardware and/or software. Our users can access our products through a console.
Dashboard
Overview of key info that is relevant to a certain goal or objective. Presented as graphs, charts or digital images.
Server
A computer or program that manages access to centralized resources. File server stores and manages all user files for a group of computers and users
Domain
A unique name that identifies a website.
Directory
- Organizes files or data in a drive or a program.
- Software that stores all resources on a network, such as: Users, groups, permissions, services, management policies.
Active directory
Directory developed by Microsoft for Windows users. Used to set up users, passwords, and devices.
User provisioning
Creation and maintenance of a user’s digital identity, authentication and authentication rights.
