application is used to complete tasks, and system software is dedicated to managing the computer itself

random access memory, short-term memory on the computer, the primary memory
what’s the differences between RAM and storage?
-primary is temporary and information is lost when power is shut
-storage mean sit is filed away for later use even if the power is shut off

what is the internet?

how do you make a page number?
- open the footer on the first page; it should have a number on
- deselect “link to previous”
- select “page number” button and select type of number
- if you need to change number, select “page number” button, “format page number”, make necessary changes
what does a modem do?
a device that takes the data from your ISP and turn it into a network for your house giving a physical connection between your house and the internet provider
what does a router do?
a hardware device that allows you to connect to several computers and other devices to a single internet connection which allows you to create a home wireless network
what is a search engine?
a program used to search a data base for specific data that corresponds to the users key words
what are URLs?
uniform resource locator, is a web address that identifies the location of a specific resource on the internet such as a webpage, image, or document, allowing a browser to access it
